I’ll do my best here.

A used 430W is worth about $6500 right now. A used 430 brings about $4000.

If you upgrade your 430 to WAAS, they include the new antenna, so that’s covered. 10 hours labor is high, especially if your existing 430 already has RG400 coax. Then it’s maybe 2-3 hours. With the coax run maybe 3-5 hours.

The Avidyne IFD440 with GPS antenna should be $10,000. That’s what I charge. For $12,500 you can get the 540.

A Stratus ES or Avidyne AXP340 is a great option for out. For in and out you can get the AXP340 with Freeflight receiver for $4,000.

Thanks.. so.. just thinking out loud here...

Why would you do the upgrade to your own current 430 unit? ($4000 out of pocket.)

If you buy a used 430W and sell your current 430 unit to recoup some money. ($2500 out of pocket) 6500-4000=2500

Antenna install = $500-$1000

ADSB = $2000+/- (Garmin upgrade, skybeacon, Status, Avidyne)

Thanks! ;)

It does make sense to sell the 430 and buy a used 430W. The benefit of the upgrade is that you get a freshly overhauled unit with a warranty. Is that worth $1,500? To some it is and to some it isn't.
