Can China control the weather?

Interesting.

In the old days of China circa 1990's, I never saw the sun. Seriously, not once. The sky was so polluted with the crude that came from all of their coal furnaces and stoves it was always grey. If the coal smoke moved out it was because of a dust storm so still no blue sky.

At about 1995 Beijing proclaimed that coal would not be used any more, it took ten years but the sky can be seen now. They also started planting lots of trees which I am sure helped as well. The past 15 years has seen that place change a lot as they started getting ready for the Olympics and just generally were building to to be more modern.

A friend of mine from China made a comment that sticks in my mind. He had moved to the US from China in the late 80's. When he went back to visit in the late 90's, he was amazed at the number of new highways and roadways.
I suspect that the increased gasoline usage in China has warmed the atmosphere substantially.
In mid March, I asked a Lear pilot at Flight Level 410 over Chicago about the outside air temperature. He said that it was remarkably warm, at Plus 10 ISO.
I am concerned about global warming. I think China has a large impact on the earth's climate. I do not think that their intentions are bad. The gas usage in the US also plays a big role in the global warming equation.
The Chinese are proposing a massive, man-made lake in their country. I wonder how this will affect the earth.
Best Wishes,
