cover the county-required million dollar liability. My hangar is empty, as I sold my plane when I was diagnosed with cancer. I'm keeping the hangar in case I'm able to get back in the game.
When I had a hull, its insurance covered the hangar, too. TIA
Jumped the gun on the post:
What I meant to ask: is if there an insurance company that has more reasonable rates than the 450.00 a year I'm paying now. Whew!

Maybe talk to your regular insurance carrier about an umbrella liability policy that would cover it. Then at least you'd get more than insurance for just your hanger.

Is it an owned hangar or a leased hangar? Are you allowed to sublease?

$450yr? That seems incredibly reasonable.
Yeah, I thought so too. But I'm also sympathetic to wanting to pay as close to zero as possible for a hangar he isn't even currently using.

Mine has been an order of magnitude greater. And, the agency sez, "don't ask if it's going to get any cheaper".

Chrotle. I've never EVER seen an umbrella liability policy that would touch anything aviation related.

You're paying 4K a year for a million in liability only on a hangar? That seems high.

The insurance company is betting you will have an incident once every 2,222 years on average and you think they're charging too much?

I'd have run that premium check to my broker so fast, my cheeks would balloon in the wind.

That's FUNNY!!! (mind's eye; seeing somebody's cheeks ballooning in the wind) (spastic laughter)
Aye, ya hit me in my funniest bone.
Sold my plane twelve years ago when cancer arrived. Plane and hangar=650.00 a year. Guess I got spoiled.
Getting back in the air is my carrot for continuing the fight.
