We have some new blood at the farm unloading hay in the morning, and since I like to get to know the people I work with, I found out one of them is fascinated with all things mechanical. He's starting his senior year in high school and is planning to go into trade school as a mechanic after he graduates, so I asked if he considered aircraft, which he had not. After talking a little bit about it, he seems very interested in it, but I don't know enough to know good choices from not-as-good choices. Schools, programs, qualifications to jump at, etc... the next budding super A&P-IA needs some guidance.
Thanks for your help!

There are many choices for places for him to get his A&P. I think that he would like the work. He can get in touch with me if he needs advise.

Sorry, been out of touch for a while, but now I am back. I have lots of information on my aviation web site www.StacheAir.com under mechanic tool box. However, if he is look for a mentor in aviation have him contact me. I have retired from the FAA, moved to Japan and currently a DME with San Francisco City College aviation maintenance college. Lots of air miles with the DME back forth to Japan and SFO. I would be happy to answer any question he may have as I work with several young guys and gals in aviation now that I am retired.

There is a hyper link to my email on the web site, I have also updated my email on this site.

Thanks guys, I'll pass it along. So far he's interested in diesel tech. stuff, but seems to like the sound of aircraft mechanic. I don't think he thought about aviation before coming to work with us that day...
