At Nanwalek (KEB), a village southeast of Homer, not on the road system. C207 crashed on landing. 135 flight, 3 aboard. Pilot and one passenger died, one passenger injured. Not a lot of information yet. NTSB is flying in to investigate.

I have flown into this strip a few times. Approx. 900 ft long, gravel, close to the beach, hills at both ends, slightly curved. Also gets a lot of wind.

Nanwalek is certainly a very challenging airport. Scuttlebutt is the pilot got a mayday out that was relayed through UPS on guard. 207s are very crashworthy, but glide like an absolute brick.

One of our planes heard the relay on guard through UPS.

Hmm seems like maybe I got some bad info. NTSB now reporting LOC on a go-around due to a dog on the runway. Maybe the pilot I talked to meant they heard UPS relaying for a plane that saw the accident? Will follow up and post what I find.

Seems to be something over 2K feet, but certainly slightly S-curved.

So you’re gonna argue with the guy who has flown in there before?

The north 1000’ is closed per NOTAM, and has been since the last time I went in there in 2015. According to said NOTAM, it will continue to be closed until the year 3000.

Not arguing, mate. It's the length I gave (well, 1850 per the FAA).
Sounds as if they should close all of it, or fix the damn thing.

I just heard about this accident and looked it up. Sounds like a good around gone wrong. A dog on the runway causing the go around followed by a sharp left turn turning into a spiral to the ground. I hate seeing these accidents. Blows my mind how often we hear about pilots losing control.

I just realized this was the crash that the AngleOfAttack YouTube channel was talking about. He seems to allude to some kinda history with the plane that he will be talking about later. Be interesting to see what happened.

Interesting video where Blanco flies the runway in a simulator and showing options. Pretty interesting.
