Although this video is the Cal National Guard fighting fire in Central California this week, it must be similar to the Wyoming ANG C130's that some of us saw in the last couple of weeks flying out of Joslin field.

The camera is in the cockpit of the C130. The conversation is between the pilot of the C130 and a lead plane. At times you can make out the lead as a dot ahead of the C130. He becomes obvious when he makes his marker drop.

Sitting in front of the computer is as close as I want to get to the firefighting experience today, especially when the Computer Lady starts thinking that the C130 wants to be going in for a landing!

Man those pilots are hard core for sure. Recently I had the pleasure of viewing Cal-Fire at their best due to a recent fire in Idyllwild. In Central California I have a friend who I believe has been evacuated due to the severity of it's movement.

My brother and his wife live in Idyllwild, they had to evacuate during that fire. There home was fine afterwards.

It's good to hear they came out okay. I'm located in Hemet so KHMT offers plenty of chances to see plenty of aircraft over head. During that fire I saw OV-10 Broncos and plenty of Air Tractors flying over head.

Remember when the C130 went down in South Dakota last year? I knew the pilots of the lead plane, and they went nearly upside down trying to get out of the microburst. Scary stuff that ariel firefighting..
