http://www.woot.com (WOOT) has set the VEX Robotics Starter Kit as their deal of the day. 1 day only, get the starter kit (http://www.vexrobotics.com/index.php/starter_kit) for an $80 savings.

This looks like some pretty cool stuff! Since yesterday was my birthday (begrudgingly admitted), I ordered one for myself as a gift.

Thought some o' you other geeks might be interested. :)

Looks pretty cool. RS is selling for 299, so I'd say you got a good deal on it ;) I'd like to see Thinkgeek selling things like that.

That looks like a generic radio control unit and an erector set.

The other night I caught it halfway through but there was a Nova show about robot cars driving through the desert. Real cars, as in jeeps and hummers driving 130ish miles on dirt roads across desert open terrain and hilly switchbacks. They were following a planned route but the actual driving was completely self contained, there was no one in the vehicles and just a radio kill switch in a chase vehicle. It was a pretty good show.

Yeah - except for the mini-microprocessor that's also included and the network patch cable for hooking it up to your computer.
