Hi POA-ers. Are any from here already there or planning on flying into Buckeye this weekend? I'm in Tucson headed for MN sometime this weekend and considering stopping by for Saturday. Haven't decided for sure if I'm up for it, but I figure if I do I might as well stay for the night show which means camping under the wing. Fortunately, it's a low one :) The details are a little skinny on both the Buckeye and the AOPA websites. Anyone know if bathrooms and showers are available? Or anything else I should know to help make the decision please advise. I've never been to any of the other big fly-ins but I have watched and listened to some examples and I'm cautiously optimistic that I can make the controlled arrival and exit without any wrong-way taxiway departures or otherwise making my tail number into a meme.

Thanks in advance for any info or advice!

I have flown into KBXK and attended the air show there, but not combined the two things. It should be easy enough. I would go around the south side of the Estrella Mountains when you come in from Tucson and avoid all the airspace.

Buckeye itself is an easy airport. The only thing not to like is the sparse ride share service, so if you want to go into town you might struggle.

The self-serve fuel is a taxi-in/push-back-out affair but it could be completely different during the air show. I only bring it up because some planes are hard to push back by yourself, especially with full tanks.

I don’t know the shower situation, but the bathroom situation should at least include the facilities at the little terminal building. And it’s open desert, so alternate facilities abound.

I would recommend going if you can. It was a good air show when we went.

Camping last year was on gravel or dirt. Porta potties quite numerous. Don't know about showers. It was kind of loud with people up late making too much noise.

I camped the previous two years. Portapotties (bring a flashlight if it's dark outside). Hot shower stalls were available in a special trailer. Bring your own tie-down ropes and stakes.

I plan to drop by during the day tomorrow. Not camping this year due to other obligations.

Read the pilot information packet carefully. There are special flight rules and a temporary tower.

No self-serve fuel during the air fair. Full service only.

I was there today, did not camp but waled down and looked at the area where planes and tents were. Looked pretty miserable to me. Dust

It was too good a day for buzzing back to MN, so I didn’t make it the air fair. Hope to get there in the future sometime.
