Brunswick ME KBXM

[Worldwide trade]

KBXM looks like an interesting place to fly into, any local insight on the peninsulas to the south for accommodations, food, hiking, etc. Or are there better airports for fly-in vacationing along the Maine coast?

Depends on what you are looking for. KRKD is positioned well for Rockland, Rockport and Camden. Hike Mt Battie in Camden (not that tall, but fantastic view of Penobscot Bay.
Bar Harbor has Acadia National park, but can get overrun with cruise ships.
Brunswick nearby are Harpswell, Bailey's Island as is Boothbay Harbor area. The former are more vacation homes with limited restaurants and accommodations, the latter more options but touristy

We flew into IWI a couple of times this summer to stay in Boothbay for the weekend. Airport manager can arrange rental cars. BXM is nice too only ever flown in for lunch a short walk away. BHB gets busy on the weekends in the summer. The coast of Maine is an awesome place to fly. I don't think you can really go wrong.

I've gone into Wiscasset (IWI) a lot because I had family in Booth Bay. Nice little place.
