Last week a 50ac lake atop Taum Sauk Mtn in Missouri breached it's Dam and flooded Johnsons Shut-ins State Park. The breach released 1.9 Billion Gallons of water that dropped 700' in less than a mile. In the direct path of the water was the Park Managers house, he was in the house along with his wife a 3 kids. All survived and only one child remains in the hospital. Here is a picture of the breached area. You can go to google earth and see the whole thing.

Good thing it didn't happen on an August weekend, the casualty rate may have been pretty high. Johnson Shut-in is a popular spot to play in the waterfalls.

Thank goodness it didn't happen in the summer time, the average weekend would have 1500+ people there. We have posted some before and after pictures on the state park website. It pretty much wiped it all out. Crews are there now starting the clean up. We hope to have some of it open this summer, but that will depend on the weather this winter.
