Boxing economics

I can't understand the economics of boxing. 135,000 a second to get in the ring and duke it out? One fight more popular than all 7 World Series games combined? Unfathomable. /rant. Go Pacquiao!

I was amazed to hear that 10,000 people paid $10 per ticket just to see them weigh in...and those that had the tickets were scalping them for $400-$500 each...AND GETTING THAT MUCH!...not for the fight...JUST the weigh in!

I don't fault the boxers for raking it in...good for them. It is the nitwits paying that much that I am bewildered by.

$100K for ringside seats.

They mentioned tonight on my local news that the purse for the fight was more than the GDP of 29 countries.
