Bose A20 cable issue

My 6 yr old Bose A20 has a defective cable. Intermittent audio resolved temporarily by gently moving/wiggling the cable. Anybody replace the wires? Is it complicated? Also, is the hand control unit included in the replacement harness? The replacement wires are not cheap. For an otherwise outstanding headset this seems like an uncharacteristic weak point. My pilot shop people say it is not an uncommon complaint. Send back to Bose?

Take the 2 screws out of the bottom of the mic plastic piece. Pull it off. Put on the new one and put the 2 screws back in. It is a 2 minute job.
