I often notice that when some people list a Bo for sale, they mention their UL and CofG. I get that they are generally tail heavy and frequently require detailed planning to ensure the airplane remains within envelope; however, when someone says their aircraft CofG is at say "80", what exactly are they saying? What is good/bad?

Here is the load graph:

So what they are saying is that the empty weight CG is about 1/3rd from the front which gives you nice margins for loading, but want to stay aft if you load heavy.

My rule of thumb on a short body Bo is a CG of just less than 80, like 79.xx. The problem is that as the fuel burns the weight shifts aft so you have to consider W&B at the end of the flight as well as the beginning.

Thanks for the chart. Offhand, anyone know where approximately is 80" in a Bo?

Ah-ha! Lightbulb came on...I forgot that I'm a proud owner of the WnB Pro app and it has a BE35/C33 template!
