It was the Cavanaugh Museum's P-51, in town giving rides... love this part:

Along for an unexpected extended flight was area resident Bill Barton, who had paid for a 30-minute flight of a lifetime aboard the vintage fighter. He wound up flying for more than 90 minutes.

One of my favorite Hoover stories:

"In 1984, the Abbotsford Air Show, held east of Vancouver, drew so much attention that bumper-to-bumper traffic continued from the freeway to the airfield. In that traffic sat a pilot who was due to perform, and was now behind schedule. He constantly watched the sky, judging his launch time by who was now in the air. Suddenly, he rammed the car ahead of him, which had abruptly stopped, and that driver instantly leaped from his car and raced to the pilot's window. "Damn it, I just bought this brand-new Lincoln for my wife," he exclaimed. "Worse than that, now I'm gonna miss seeing Bob Hoover fly!" Although he was embarrassed, Bob Hoover introduced himself, apologized for the inconvenience, and invited the man and his wife to jump in with him. Soon, they were traveling through the VIP gate, towards the P-51 and Shrike Commander the legendary air show pilot would be flying that day."

Note to self....if I ever get a P-51....make sure Bob Hoover is on my speed dial!

So what about the cognitive issues that Bob Hoover was supposed to have?

Actually, I wasn't expecting you to... :) BRING IT! (Haha...)

Well then, here ya go:

He could lose his whole brain and still be a better pilot than you, but that's not saying much 'cause even my mother is a better pilot than you (and she won't even get in an airplane!).

I always liked the vid of him pouring the pitcher of water into a glass when doing a roll. Just amazing stuff.

Watched a one gear down landing of a P-51 a few years ago. The pilot did an excellent job of setting it down. It was an entirely non-event other than not being able to taxi.
