I just got an email from the group that does my random D/A testing saying “after a negative dilute urine text, you will need to complete a Blood PETH.” What is that and is this a new change for HIMS testing?

I’ve been sober for just under 9 months, so nothing to worry about, just curious what this is about.

Dilution means they think you drank a ton of water to weaken the concentrations in your pee to try to game the test (they almost always test for specific gravity or some other marker to verify this). The FAA says they ain't gonna fall for that.

ah, thanks!

If you report to the collection facility after having recently voided your bladder, then drink a lot of water to be able to void again, you run the risk of the sample being considered diluted. As mentioned, the specific gravity is measured (as well as temperature at time of collection). A diluted sample can occur via non nefarious means.
