A Chinese fossil found in Qianyang- a small village approximately 10 km southwest of the city of Yixian in Liaoning Province- raises questions about modern biplanes' predecessor.

A new study of one of the earliest feathered dinosaurs- Microraptor gui- suggests it may have had upper and lower sets of wings, very much like the biplanes of early aviation of the 20th century.

Microraptor ("small thief") was a genus of small, dromaeosaurid dinosaur from the Lower Cretaceous Period (Barremian stage), 130-125.5 million years ago. Like Archaeopteryx, it demonstrates the close evolutionary relationship between birds and dinosaurs, for it had long pennaceous feathers on its limbs and tail.

There is nothing new under the sun.
