    Hi guys!

I'm planning a Bahamas trip cross country next month and I'd like to know if any of you had any recent experience with South Bimini airport (never been there). I'm planning to land there and stay for a night.
Is handling mandatory with Sovereign? Do they have 100LL available?
    Can't find much info online.

    Thanks,

    Marco

No fuel, and not much in general on Bimini. If you’re going that far, might as well go to Andros or the exumas

E-mail and ask. I had good luck with the contacting the folks at Stella, and they're kinda in the boonies compared to places like Exuma and Eleuthera. Funny story about paying with cash cuz I landed when their power was out. But that was 2021 when general aviation was still somewhat sane and prices hadn't jumped the shark. In 2023 I would have been spending the afternoon until they got the cc machine back on lol.

The one place you don't want to eff around with is Great inagua. 100LL availability is sketchy, and not my cup of tea for getting AOG in.
    Have a safe trip!

I’d recommend the Bahamas guide from AOPA. Also a reminder, Bimini is 8nm from the ADIZ, be sure you have your code before crossing back.

Ok thanks guys for you inputs.
Been already to Bahamas. Just never been to Bimini. I can't find any contact other than the handling agent Sovereign. I have the guides thanks ;)

@hindsight2020 No 100LL avlb and almost AOG in in Great Inagua...i already experienced that unfortunately...never again:D:D

if you do end up going to south bimini, I'd love to hear a write up. I've always thought it would be a cool thing to take my parents to lunch at south bimini, which is only about 70 miles from LNA and they live in that area. I just don't know about logistics once you land. thx.

Sure. I think you can get easily get a taxi to the ferry (1 minute crossing i think) and then in you are in town.
Shouldn't be a big deal. You just need to be precise with e-APIS, ADIZ, FPL and customs.

Sovereign sent me this quote last year for an SR22 daily stop..and that's why I'd prefer to avoid them:

    Landing fee $10.00

    Customs processing fee $100.00

    Departure taxes $29.00 per person

    Handling fee $100.00

    Vat 10%

well that would be an expensive lunch. I'm aware of the $29 per person tax, but is the customs processing fee and "handling fee" standard? that sounds like a bunch of malarky.

Yeah i think you are right. The quote was for an outbound flight from Bahamas to the US so only 29$ per person should be the tax. 200$ are just for them

I don’t think I paid that for a full week at MYEF, including fuel. Sheesh

I finally managed to talk on the phone with someone working there and they said that handling is not mandatory. Just for info ;)
