My Sky Arrow uses 5.00x5 main gear wheels and tires.

They're just fine on pavement or smooth grass. But the landing strip at our new property is a bit rougher than I'd like, and I'm thinking bigger would be better.

So...

1) My wheels and brakes are by Marc Igegno. Does anyone know if their 6.00x6 wheels would work with my existing axles and brake parts? I've queried the factory but not yet gotten a response.

2) Does there exist a larger diameter tire that could fit on my 5.00x5 rims? Desser lists these:

Would need appropriate tubes, of course, for my existing wheels.

A long shot, I know, but any thoughts on this?

You just need a Luscombe. :D

Seems you should be able to mount larger mains without much trouble. It's the nosewheel that could be problematic.

Kinda stuck with my "wheelbarrow" nosewheel without major surgery - there's precious little clearance already.

I can keep the nose up, until a slower speed.

But Karen firmly believes that size matters...

Maybe something like that fitted to my 5" wheels?

It might be cheaper to get your airstrip graded a little smoother. Big tires aren't cheap, and I don't see anything mcuh bigger than what you have for 5.00-5 wheels. Those big tundra tires are really expensive, and they're heavy. They're basically a big reinforced tire tube (the area inside the wheel is closed off) and their owners try to avoid operating on pavement because it wears them out too quickly.

For 6" ultralight wheels: http://www.airframesalaska.com/26-Ultralight-Alaskan-Bushwheels-p/26126.r2.htm

^^^^ Holy Crap! ^^^^ and I thought 4 tires for my former G37 coupe were expensive $1700 for 4 of them
