We used to use extract of spearmint to hide the smell of using alcohol for fuel. The exhaust smelled like we were using Mars bars for fuel.

Funny part was we put a small fuel cell inside a larger fuel cell. The inside cell had methanol which the engine ran on. Then we would put the top back on the outside fuel cell, then fill it up with race gas. Pop off the filler cap, take a sniff and all the tech inspector smelled was the gas, not the methanol.....


Racing used to be so much fun back then.

I’ve actually used that exact stuff. Not in the airplane of course... but it doesn’t take much and won’t do anything to the engine or fuel system. It’s basically just scented oil of some sort. I have used it in the leaf blower just for fun, as well as the Vespa and even put some in the Harley when we were going to be riding in a parade. It’s really no big deal.
