Hey I’m from the Caribbean and I want to become a pilot. I’m trying to decide the best path.

Should I try to go through the military, or go straight to flight school?

I want to know:

Which path is more realistic for someone outside the US

Which one is faster

Which one gives better long-term opportunities

Also, if anyone here started from the Caribbean or a similar place, I’d really appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance.

As always, the answer is, "it depends."

Recreational or pro pilot? Fixed wing or chopper? Which Caribbean country? How much money ya got?
There's a reason a lot of people travel to the US for flight training.

The military route has many more prerequisites (other than the Army) you have to be a citizen and an officer first before going to flight school. Lots of options for civilian training.
