Big Bear, CA, watch density altitude for afternoon departures in the summer.
First Sunday, every month at Santa Paula. Maybe some resturants off field. Lots of hangers open with antique aircraft.
Lake Havasu for good BBQ on airport.
Sedona AZ may be a little far. Great views, they did have a resturant on airport.

Oceano. Easy walk to Pismo and there are a few restaurants near the beach. If you want to make a weekend out of it, they have camping on the field.
San Luis Obispo has a decent restaurant on the field.
Santa Barbara you can walk to the beach, but I think the on field restaurant is gone, but you can rent a car easily from Atlantic.

Line Up and Wait
I second San Luis Obispo. You get 2 lakes to fly over, a bit of mountain flying, the Santa Ynez valley is beautiful, good food at the destination.
