Airline pilots and civil aviation pilots, do any of you have mild myopia (nearsighted - i.e. distant objects appear blurry) in both eyes e.g. -1.25 however you have perfect near vision for reading/computer monitors etc. and don't need correction for your near sight but only need correction for your far sight?
Lacking any medical vision knowledge, is there any glasses that will offer your prescription myopia correction to 20/20 when looking outside the cockpit in the distance, however when looking at the instrument panel or reading checklists or approach plates etc. in the cockpit, you are viewing those through the glasses at an angle that does not correct that near vision therefore it is your natural vision? I hope you understand what I mean, but what do you folks in the airline industry use? - i.e. you want a visual solution that will give you the correction for looking at far objects but you don't want any correction for near objects.
For those of you in the industry that have that same myopia issue and prefer to wear contact lenses, what type do you use and how does it work for you? I assume with the contact lenses you won't have a choice because it will give the distance vision correction but you would be forced to look at near objects inside the cockpit (gauges/plates/checklists) through a lens that is offering you correction for distant objects? If that is the case, do you get eye strain/you feel weird/or has it been awkward for you?
Ultimately, what I am asking here is, what is the best vision solution (except laser surgery) for the cockpit for people who have mild myopia in both eyes but have excellent vision for near objects?
