Aircraft manufacturers busy at EBACE

Wichita business aircraft makers are using the fifth annual European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland, as a platform for a variety of product and fleet developments.

Among them:

  • Raytheon Aircraft Co. unveiled its new Beechcraft Premier IA. The IA has a redesigned interior, avionics upgrades, along with several system improvements as part of the planned evolution of the Beechcraft Premier I. The IA will be available later this summer and is modeled after the Hawker 800XP cabin.
  • Also, Raytheon announced the renaming of the Beechcraft Bonanza and Beechcraft Baron. The name changes coincide with the new avionics systems for the Bonanza and Baron product lines announced last summer. Formerly named the Beechcraft Bonanza A36 and the Beechcraft Baron 58, the aircraft will now be formally designated the Beechcraft Bonanza G36 and Beechcraft Baron G58, respectively.
  • Cessna Aircraft Co. officials say the market for their Caravan aircraft in Europe is growing. By mid-2005, Cessna will deliver 10 new Wichita-built Caravans to operators in Spain, Finland, Poland and Russia. About 60 Caravans currently operate in Europe. Caravans are noted in the industry for their interior flexibility and are used for both the movement of passenger and cargo.
  • Cessna also recognized JA Flight School, based at Austria's Oberwaltersdorf Airport, as an authorized Cessna Pilot Center. It is the first such center in Austria. The JA Flight School is a partner of Jetalliance and the Avia Consult Group. It provides training for a private pilot's license through a commercial air transport pilot's license.
