BBM was always my preferred messaging client, although it became less so when they started showing ads, and even less so when they started selling stickers and emojis. I can accept the ads as paying for the product, but I really don't need stickers or emojis. Still, it remained the only messaging client I would use to communicate with [human] clients.

BlackBerry is making BBM Enterprise available to private individuals. Free for one year and $2.49 / 6 months thereafter. I'll now tell clients that BBMe is the only messaging client I use. If they don't like it, that's what email is for.

In a way, I'm happy. I think BBMe is free of ads, stickers, and all that other useless crap. Whether any of my contacts install it is another question. But if they don't, that's fine, too. I'd rather they email me anyway.
