It is time to renew my Basic Med. In the last 24 months I have been diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes. I have not flown as PIC since the diagnosis.
We first tried Metformin, but I developed leg cramps the second week and was move to Trulicity, which worked for a little over a year, then my numbers went up. I am now taking insulin (12 units of Lantus at night and 6 units of Aspart with meals). I have been using a CGM since starting the insulin in May of this year (2025). Both my GP an my specialist (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism) are happy with my status as of 2 days ago.
FYI, I am 67. Ratings are CSEL.
I don't have any other medical issues since my last second class but chose the basic med option at the last re-issuance.
What is my best next step? And, what do I need to take to the exam?

If your GP is "happy with the status", why wouldn't you have them perform the Basic Med exam? Then you don't take anything to the exam, because they have the information and are familiar with you and your health (the very definition of Basic Med).
