Right now, Barrington Irving is in the final legs of a round-the-world flight in a Columbia 400. Once he gets back to Miami, he will have set the record for 1) being the youngest person, at 23 years old, to have flown around the world solo in a single-engine plane, and 2) being the first African-American to do so. He is currently at BFI, Boeing Field in Seattle, and is scheduled to depart for Denver (FTG) today. He is slated to visit The 1940 Air Terminal Museum at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), where I am a volunteer, this coming Saturday, June 23. From here, he will proceed on to Miami, most likely on Sunday, to finish his flight. If you're in any of these areas, I recommend going to see him and cheer him on into the record books. You can check his progress on flightaware http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N731EA or at his organization's website, www.experienceaviation.org.

Well, you can do what he did... contact all of the parts suppliers to donate the parts, then get the airframe manufacturer to assemble it all for you...

thatll take too long. i gotta do it by next april. maybe i should see what this Barrington guy is doing with his airplane when he is done...

I brought this thread back rather than create a new one.

Because:
My wife called me to tell me that she heard something on the radio today about his "flying schoolbus" concept for reaching and Inspiring American youth in STEM studies.

I found the website:
http://www.experienceaviation.org/

I had never heard of him before she told me.

I met him at AOPA Summit 2011. He's one of those people who is most impressive by being understated. A true gentleman. Here's to his success!

Definitely an actions louder than words kind a guy. Good egg.
