I flew my post maintenance flight today after letting the plane sit since July and going out of annual. My wife is recovered from her surgery and I got the green light.

Immediately after my last flight I changed the oil Later I had time to repack the bearings and research all the ADs and prepare a binder with the current ones and a spreadsheet with all the past ones and why they were NA or when/how they were complied with.

I made copies of the log entries for the oil and bearings and included them in the binder that I gave to the mechanic. I also stopped by the shop each day and helped out like installing the replacement dzus fittings and safety wire and generally being an extra pair of hands.

The shop manager quoted $1600 for the annual but when I got the bill it was $660. I was pleasantly surprised.

Sub 4 figure annual—like a unicorn—some ppl think they exist, just never saw one yet.

I had one or two when I owned the Cherokee 180 but not when I went to a retract.

Congrats always good to save on an annual.

Buy a 150. Everything is affordable. ;) Best economical flying there is. Cheap enough to just fly around for fun, decent enough to go on short to medium xc flights and make fair time for the fuel spent, and inexpensive to own, insure, operate and maintain.
