I have been waiting 6 months for Avmap to relese their highly anticipated Terrain feature. Looks like they have finally done it. Although they say it is not terrain awereness, it is terrain depiction. When you move your cursor a dialogue box tells you what the elevation is.
I am sending in my card, and have been told to expect a weeks turnaround. for them to install the new feature and send it back to me.
I'll let ya all know how it goes, looks.

Michael

Edit..This is for the EKPIV Model.

Out West I think terrain is the only way to go, especially in night VFR flying. The Garmin 296 is still my favorite on the to-be-purchased list with the Lowrance 2000c a close second (have they finally added terrain yet?). I played with the Avmap at DVT's pilot store but wasn't terribly impressed compared to the Garmin.
