If they do, those people will have to wait behind the backlog of pre-orders.
 
Well, I guess it's nice to know that there is a slide-in replacement for the 430/530 series without having to take it in the shorts with installation labor costs. Options are a good thing. I'm going in with the assumption that there'll be GNS430/530s to be had on the used market for the next decade in order to replace failing units, but if Garmin ever decides to shut people out of support, at least there's now a place to run to to save on labor costs.
 
Wasn't the delta between the 430/530 $5-6K? Avidyne is showing only $2K delta between the 440/540. Why would anyone do the smaller screen for only $2K savings?

Maybe of it's for a drop in replacement for a 430?
