I fly an experimental with lots of Dynon and Advanced Flight stuff. The 440 GPS was taking a long time to acquire satellites and maybe had a dead internal battery. Avidyne would not deal with me directly, I carried my unit to a dealer after downloading logs and sending them to Avidyne.

I picked up an exchange unit today. The shop said they programmed some stuff but I would have to put in my own settings. I can't figure out what they did or what needs doing.

I have several concerns as I start to fly with the new GPS. What do I need to do in order to trust it, ie a quality test flight?

Next up, I get several errors upon start up:
No Comm Shadin FADC
Cross Sync Fault (I updated my Jeppesen databases, have been told this is likely a software, databases, or main system configuration pages do not match.)
429 Data Not Received #1.
Additionally, my 2nd efis is not getting the GPS signal.

I did not know I should have taken photos of my screens before taking the unit in (this was NOT in the avidyne instructions).
I'm told that a file (part of the logs I downloaded) has config settings. I will attach, it has similar words but not sufficient similarity or patterns for me to use on the config pages.

I am hoping a call with Avidyne will straighten this out Wednesday.
I've tried asking on a new to me Avidyne FB group but I am not out of moderation and have no answers yet.

I will. link the text file and the video of what I am seeing.
Any pointers?

Martin Pauly, this is not a 15 min out of the box go fly...

Where are you located?

I think you installed the gps for a prior owner.

I wonder now if I need to scan for this replacement gps to be added to the skyview network in order for it to get data.

I fixed the serial port 3 error that caused the cross sync fault after watching a bunch of avidyne support videos. Mine needed to be vhfctrl on port 3 in and out. Single gps system.

Also, if your original unit hasn’t been boxed and shipped somewhere, you might ask the shop to power it up on the bench for you so you can get your settings off of it.

If that text file is from the Avidyne, that has everything you need. If anything here is unclear I can help over the phone. It all makes sense for an IFD/AFS system.IMG_0490.pngIMG_0489.png

Jesse and 4BU, thanks for the feedback.

I think I might be good now.

I spent a few hours watching Avidyne support videos and reading the install manual. I'm not sure what worked, but this is what I did.
1. Initially I played with some settings but switched everything back to the txt file settings. It became clearer where each of these values was to be input.
2. I scanned and updated my AFS EFIS, not sure this had a real impact.
3. I turned on everything outside with clear sky view. The two alerts did initially come on. Within 2.5 minutes the satellites were up, a flight plan was started, it flowed over to both my EFIS, and then the alerts disappeared.

Perhaps all I needed to do was to do this outside yesterday/
