Any Avare users know if its possible to view chart legends within the app? I'm not seeing that option anywhere. If its not possible, what do you use to view chart legends on your mobile device? (if you use something other than the pdf downloadable charts)

On my pc, I use skyvector to view the chart legend.

How about keeping a copy of this on your device? Chart Users Guide PDF

Well, its not so much the symbols I'd be looking for, more needed for Center frequencies, MOA, Restricted, etc. info. You'd typically gather all this info in planning(on your PC or whatever), but I'm just exploring the usefulness of the app as a paper chart substitute.

I don't think that Avare offers the option to see the chart borders with the info you want. At least I can't find that option, either. Best place to check, though, is the Avare forum on Google Groups:

As a complementary app you might want to try Naviator. Only $35/yr and it offers the option to switch between stitched charts (like Avare) and separate charts. They offer a 30 day full feature free trial. I use both, with Naviator for most things and Avare for it's free geo-referenced approach charts.

I don't think there's a way to view the actual chart legend, but you may find what you are looking for by long pressing on the area on the chart and checking the SUA tab.

You are correct.
Preferences:Weather:Use ADSB Weather must be left blank (unchecked).

Thanks, that is helpful

If you are looking for things like Center Frequencies, have you considered referencing the Low Enroute charts?
The Sectionals, as presented on Avare, are merely the default chart presentation.
Go to the lower left corner on the Maps tab and click that square with the down pointing arrowhead in it. That will bring up a bunch of tabs.
Go to the lower right corner and the bottom tab will say "Sectional"
Click that and it will offer alternate charts. Click on "IFR Low" for the low enroute charts.
The chart is the same thing that's on Skyvector or AirNav, or ....

Good suggestions regarding other maps and SUA info tab etc. But as far as viewing a raw chart, I tried downloading the 100mb pdf from FAA. Trying to view this on android was painful. I tried several apps, kindle, drive pdf viewer, quick office... they aren't able to handle the size. So, I tried the 50MB TIF file. Same issue with other viewer apps that I tried. What ended up working surprisingly well was this. I took the .tif file and reduced it by 50% and saved it as a .jpg, at about 20MB. Then viewing it with the google drive app was very smooth, and zooming to larger than actual size(compared to paper) the quality looks excellent. I'm sure there is a better perhaps less free way to do this, but that seems to work OK.

edit: it wasn't the default photo viewer that worked, it was the google drive viewer, updated above.
