Auvelity Special issuance

Hello all,

I was wondering if it would be possible to get a special issuance for depression successfully treated with Auvelity (bupropion with dexthromethorphan)?

I would say no. Auvelity is not one of the four approved SSRI's on the FAA list.

From the article:

In June, the FAA removed additional aeromedical barriers as part of this ongoing mission. Pilots who are taking antidepressants are no longer required to undergo follow-up neuropsychological evaluations to continue flying, and an additional medication, Wellbutrin XL, was approved for use. With that addition, four selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and a bupropion extended release are now on the approved list.

Buproprion just recently got on to the list of [sic] SSRIs (it's not an SSRI but go figure). But this SI is for a SINGLE psychoactive drug. Multiple drugs (even if they're rolled up into the same pill) is going to be problematic. You can't fly on dextromethorphan anyhow. I didn't even know that they'd mix that into an antidepressant.
