I have a Cessna 172RG with a 300 Navomatic autopilot and a perfectly good 400 Navomatic given to me. Is it practical to upgrade my 300 to the 400 and gain vertical control?

Honestly, given what you'll spend getting all that running and what you'll spend to maintain it, you're better off with something more modern.

Good Morning,

For the 172RG I can offer you the promotion that we released last year for Osh Kosh for a significant discount on a S-TEC 55X autopilot system. This is a limited time and quantity offer and we expect it will go fast, at only $8200 for a complete system, and upgrades from an existing S-TEC system as low as $2,995 this is a savings of almost $11,000!! We can also offer you a discounted auto-trim system for only $3,795, that is an additional $2,000 in savings. This deal is for a factory refurbished 55X controller, new servos, and all necessary hardware to drive the 55X. The 55X is a very capable, feature rich, autopilot that would be a great upgrade for your aircraft at an extremely discounted price.

For more info on the 55X please visit this link:

You can find a list of S-TEC dealers here if you would like to call around to check on install prices and shop availability:

If you have any questions about this system or if I can be of any assistance please let me know. Thank you and have a great day!
