Hi all,

I am looking at attending the ATP Jets weekend CTP course in Dallas. Has anyone done this? I see they also offer an A320 type rating for an additional $10k. Kind of tempted. Thoughts specifically on the weekend course?

I did it over 7 days. If you can do it in less, do it in less. It's a big expensive box tick. I say the faster you can tick it.

I think the idea is to do the ground portion at home now. I did it all in person but if I had a chance to do part at home, I would. The classroom was miserably cold and the recommended hotel was crappy (now out of business so don't worry...)

Dunno about the weekend thing, but I recently did my ATP-CTP with them using the remote option for classroom.

Overall, a great experience. Instructors were almost all current or former American pilots, and it was not at all the "nothing more than watching YouTube videos about airplane accidents" that I've heard ATP-CTP courses generally described as. Yes, you will watch some videos about aircraft accidents, but they are the accidents that inspired the required curriculum for ATP-CTP. You can't talk about CRM without talking about UAL232, for example... And there was a lot of "backstory" added to the content of the videos.

If the weekend schedule is what works for you, do it.

The CTP is 30 classroom hours and 10 hours of sim per the FAA AC. ATP’s weekend class is set up for people with a Monday to Friday job who don’t want to take a bunch of days off. They’ll do two days of classroom training via Zoom one weekend, two more days the next weekend and then do the five 2 hour sim sessions the third weekend so they’d go to DFW Friday and head home Monday. So just three nights in a hotel and just have to take two days off from work.
