Hello! I am currently an independent flight instructor with about 550 total flight hours. Im looking to possibly knock out the CTP course and then then the ATP written ahead of time. Is anyone familiar with the Delta ATP-CTP course? Im looking to become a pilot cadet at a regional airline, and I've heard that taking the Delta course gets you a LOR. Does this hold any weight when applying to Delta subsidiaries like Endeavor cadet programs? Or I could just wait to take the CTP course because Ive heard airlines pay for it during training. But any competitive advantage I can get is a plus for trying to land an interview. Any insight or advice is helpful, thanks!

you still need 1000 hrs to be get the atp, don't waste the money now. get more hrs first.

Assuming he meets the requirements for an R-ATP at 1,000hrs.

I agree, no point in taking it now. Keep flying.

OP is trying to get into a cadet program and not get hired by an airline. There is nothing wrong with trying to get your resume beefed up and make yourself stand out. Using Delta to do the CTP can't hurt your chances at a cadetship so why not try to do it that way.

Thank ya'll for your responses! Cadet programs seem to be really hot right now, it's way more difficult to get an interview with the regionals without being one from what Ive heard. I'm just not sure if I should pay $5,000 for the Delta course or if that money would be better spent getting more multi time. I want to get cadet interviews in any way I can, Ive also signed up for pilot job fairs and recruiting events.

You're better off asking on APC or reddit than here.

The longer you wait to apply to a cadet program the less likely you'll get accepted.
thats because cadet programs are not made to train pilots, they are designed to separate pilots from their money and the airlines have a financial interest in them.

They don't cost anything. OP already has done the training, they are just trying to get in a program since those are the only pilots getting hired at the moment.

I took the class at Delta and I loved it, we got 3 full days in the full motion sim (including high altitude endorsement) because the regular pilots weren’t training (otherwise they give you the night slots). I would do it again, I might do it again, well worth the 5k for me, that’s my opinion.

Would I bank on getting a job out of it, absolutely not. These airlines want the database ready so when the need comes, they have phone numbers to call. Thats a bit if for you, but a massive benefit the airline (and it costs them nothing).
