The turtle lived.
Okay, let me explain. About two years ago, my goddaughters arrived by bus from Philly for a visit. Among the things they brought with them was a baby turtle in a tank.
I knew pretty much nothing about caring for turtles, so I basically fed it, changed the water once in a while, and kept replacing the tank with larger ones as the turtle grew. But about two weeks ago, a friend of mine who is a herpetologist stopped by to visit and immediately diagnosed the turtle with pneumonia. It was listless, wasn't eating much, had swollen eyes, and listed to the left when placed in the water.
He prescribed heat, vitamin supplements, and a daily one-hour immersion in a small tank of warm water with an antibiotic powder mixed in.
I guess he knew what he was talking about, because the turtle lived.
Here he (she?) is swimming around and eating worms.
I'll have to call him to ask whether it's a male or a female. I forget what gender pronoun he used...
