Arrhythmia back after SI

Let me work

I'm a 23 year old CFI with hopes of flying for the airlines. I was diagnosed with AFib November of 2017 and underwent 2 cardioversions and an RF ablation. They could not find anything structurally wrong with my heart, labs were normal, and the stress test was fine. The ablation went well and I waited the required 90 days for the holter monitor. I received Special Issuance for a first class medical in June and returned to work. I recently went back into Afib and underwent another cardioversion. My doctor is recommending a Convergent Maze procedure which has a higher success rate at correcting Afib.

Is this procedure approved by the FAA? I'm also concerned with what the FAA will do when I have to reapply for special issuance. Do the often reauthorize special issuance medicals for those that had one and went back into their arrhythmia?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Good to know. I wasn't aware of the procedure until this question was asked.
