After tech visit #9 yesterday, one of the tuners on ONE my DTivos is still pixelating. EVERY TIME they come out it holds for about 24 hours. So far they've redone every connector. This guy swapped ports on the switch. It HAS to be a bad cable, but I dunno how. Signal strength is only slightly lower on one tuner, like 82 vs. 84.

The last tech said it might be a bad switch. I ain't buying it. I have 3 TiVos and AFAIK, only ONE line is broken? And it follows the cable? These guys are usually clueless on basic troubleshooting. The tech who did the first install was maroon and I get to suffer for 5 months after,

This is driving me nuts. More than anything I don't want to go through the 4 layers of prompts and recorded "I have steps for you try. Are you in front of your TV?..." when I call it in.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

You have three TiVo's? Really?

I have three DirecTivos, one is HD. I own 2 standalone TiVos. One is lent out at the moment. The other is a Series 3 HD with lifetime service.

Don't watch TV without it.

The worse thing is none of them can do all of the features thanks to the various corporate SNAFUs. I can't do multiroom viewing without hacking the old ones (more).

Now ask how many HD TVs I own. None. Yet.

This is the primary reason I have two TIVOs. I like being able to transfer a recording from one room to another. Rarely do I have both of them recording something at the same time (although one is a dual tuner, and it's gets double duty all the time). Can't wait until the price comes down to decent levels on the HD models.

Yesahbut, TiVo is being forced by the MPAA to leave out Multiroom viewing and TiVo2Go on the HD TiVos until they have a way to make you pay for each viewing or whatever their fantasy is. Maroons.

I think I saw that the HD Tivos are now $299, down significantly from the $800 price point where they were!

Ugh! Didn't know that! Of course, I'm holding off getting an HD Tivo until I get an HD TV! :)

Amen. Heck, listening to the radio in the car I've more than once wanted to reach for the rewind button, only to realize that I didn't have Tivo (or a G1000 audio panel) for the radio!

Ditto! :goofy: I wouldn't buy an iPod until the Apple Genius in the Apple store showed me how hard it is to do a jump back for podcasts. I wish they had the 8 second jump-back, but TiVo has a patent on that.

I have two HD Tivos now and still no real HD TV other than a 20" LCD monitor with multiple inputs. I hooked up the HD DTivo to it last night. HD looks cool. Watched LeMans. It's funny, like when color first came out, you'll watch just to see the picture.

The signal still faded but the signal strength was way down in the 30s because it was raining. I hardly ever got rain fade on my old install (that *I* did) in the city.

It's a new model with CableCARD and no OLED display. I have the original $800 one because I got in on the deal to transfer my lifetime service.

Right, the $800 tivo is still out there.

I'm having a different frustration with my TiVo's these days. I'm tired of DirecTV putting the kibosh on TiVo and bought the new HD TiVo with the intent to go back to comcast and use cable cards.

But so far comcast can't get the cable cards to work. :/

Frustrating.

I got a message on the Series 2 Hughes DTiVo with the bad line. DirecTV and TiVo are actually adding TiVo features!

Well, it says that they'll roll out Web scheduling and the Deleted folder in "early 2008."

So I have that going for me. :D

Still, it MAY be a sign that DirecTV and TiVo are talking and maybe DirecTV will wise up and bring out DTivos again. If they do, I'll stay with DirecrTV.

I gotta believe that they've heard often enough from subs heading to the competition like you and me that we want TiVo. DirecTV was counting on Joe Six Pack not knowing there was better. They turned backs on all of us who were evangeilizing. Now that Rupert's gone they may have decided there aren't enough Joe Six Packs to cover the losses.

I guess I'll tell DirecTV again that my install is still F*d up so they can send out another clueless Russian installer who barely understands English. I'll see if I can get any ideas from the TiVo and DBS forums.

I think that there's an XM with the audio equivalent of TiVo built in now.

I just went online to DirecTV to see what would happen when I cancel HBO now that "John From Cincinnati" is canceled.

They hit me with a charge for $70 for the service call for my still-broken "service." Not only did I not agree to that, they never even mentioned it.

Sing along with me, "Bye, bye, TV from the sky..."
