April 5 at KLOT

We are going to give some free rides to some college students. They have never flown in a low wing aircraft before. I am providing pizza afterward.
We will start at 8:30 am on April 5 and share pizza for lunch. Let me know if you would like to join us at KLOT near Chicago.
 
Following as well. Could be a reason to meet up the midwest gang.
 
We have about 30 aircraft coming with a nice mix of a Centurion, a Warrior, a C152, a Remos, a Vashon Ranger, a Cessna 340, a Pellegrin Tarragon, two RV 14s, a Sport Cruiser, a Bellanca Decathlon, an Archer, an RV7, a Cherokee 140, an Aeronca Champ, a Bellanca Cruisair, an RV12, a Motorglider, a Husky, an Arrow, a Diamond DA40, a Skylane, a C140, a Piper 28-160, a Boeing Stearman, an Aztec, a Bell Jet Ranger, a T-tail Arrow, and a Tecnam so far.
Only demonstration pilots with gold wristbands are allowed access to the VIP trailer. Pizza will be available to everyone for lunch. No money is changing hands here. We are not charging the college students for the rides.
Contact me if you want to show off your flying machine. Advanced registration is requested. My goal in life is to share my love of aviation with the next generation.

Please provide registration info. My cell is 630-330-3306. I have a PA32R-301T and an SR22. I’ll attend if possible. Thank you.
 
Hmmm... I don't see any Mooneys on that list. I'll have to double check with the missus tho.
 
Mo is going to bring his Aztec. Wish we had a Mooney to display to the students!
 
Oh, a Mooney may be an option though I have a morning conflict. How late do you think you’ll go?
 
Weather looks good this weekend. I’ll be there though probably 9:30.

Any particulars on flying in? Is the field open all day, any special requests, parking, hours (can I arrive around lunch time), etc?
 
Our event will be held on the main terminal ramp (by the control tower near the center of the field). Please bring some chips or a dish to pass for the luncheon at 11:30 am. I will provide the pizza.
Because of the widely-spread announcement of our April 5 postponement, I am expecting double the number of students to attend (30-40). The airport opens at 0600, so if you come in at 0800, that would be great. But 0930 is fine.
I took one of the students for a joy ride in a Piper Warrior two months ago. The joy and excitement on this student's face were totally worth the effort. It is a rewarding activity (and you get to fly!).

I am so happy that you are coming! The last fly-in of this type was held at Casa de Aero last year and the turnout was too high for that small private field. We are grateful for Chris Lawson and his team that they are allowing us to hold the party at KLOT!

Chris Lawson was the previous owner of dad's Cherokee Six. Got other stuff going on so I won't be able to attend
 
Fantastic turn out at this event. Controllers were great keeping up with all the traffic. And the students were super cool. Thanks for putting it together.
 
So the event was a huge success! Thanks to Danna D. who came in with a Mooney! We had Jody J., Kent N., Jim G., Nick H., Gary B., Steven P., Bob S., Sean B., John M. (flying Bob Z.'s Stearman), Dave H., Luke, P., Dale K., Brad B., Mike D., Ed R., Jack W., Joe F. (whose Bonanza is for sale) and Danna D. flying 60+ Lewis University students in airplanes that they had never flown in before. Ryan S. kept the busy ramp under control. Thanks to John who let us use the ramp! Thanks to Mike Kadonaga for helping us get ready.
Harry S. supported registration and Jonathan T. dispatched the students out to their planes. Clark A. served the pizza and everyone brought a dish to pass. Mike Kent worked the crew rotations. Brian Krotser took the photos (above).

Thanks for being there! The students are the future. Flying is freedom! So we got to promote our future freedom!
Thanks to my wife for coordinating supplies in the background. The Port Authority bent over backwards to support this event and we really appreciate their support!
