AOPA Insurance

I don't know, but I do know that it might be a good idea to check other sources. Last time I bought insurance on my C182 through AOPA, it was about $1200. I just got new insurance through Falcon and paid a bit under $800 for the same coverage.

When I was insurance shopping, AOPA's "from the hip" quote was very competitive, but when I called to bind, the number came up higher. The agent, when asked, said, "you're right it is, let me get back to you," and when he did, he bested his prior quote by about 10% - said he had to check some other stuff.

I'd ask. THeir service has been, for me, very good.

Somehow they found out the insurance on my RV-10 is expiring and they want me to give them a chance to quote, but when I go on line they don't have any experimenals listed in their list of approved aicraft. Why does that not surprise me about AOPA? Sorry, I'm just not a fan.

I've been very happy with USAA which I bought through the broker Sutton-James. They offered a price that was a bit less than the AOPA quote. Discounts for continuing ed.
