AOPA Crossover Classic 182 WILL NOT be coming to Gaston's....

I think that was the best Sweepsteaks plane since I've been a memeber ( bout 9 years)

The Twin Comanche was great! But I'll gladly take next years Tornado Husky! :wink2::wink2::wink2:

Yeah, I was thinking that it would be nice if I won that plane.

What I noticed was that he never seemed to be smiling. Probably thinking, "Oh, this is so going to screw my taxes..." ;)

We sat behind him and his family on the way out to AirportFest on Friday night. Great Family! One of the first things he did was call his tax guy to find out how much it would cost him. This was his first real look at the plane since it was announced. Just like a kid, very excited about all of the details ("look at this!, WOW, look at that", etc.) I'm very happy for him.

That's cool!

Very cool. I'm happy for him too.

I'm still trying to figure out why AOPA never publishes even estimated costs for these things.

They seem to forget when filling the magazine with articles and photos all year about that second letter in their acronym.

Just change their name to "Free Stuff And Labor Used To Build A Raffle Plane Every Year Association" if they're not going to explain that they just renovated an aircraft with so much expensive stuff no Owner in their right-mind would do it.

Problem is, they'd have to make a judgement call on which of those things would actually be the most useful to a typical Owner, and that'd **** off the other magazine advertisers.

For the price, AOPA membership is a steal, but they sure pad the magazine every year with the Sweepstakes airplane articles that are little more than extended advertising for all those shops and products.

I'd love to see them hand over the pricing info to another organization like, say... Aviation Consumer... And see what AC had to say about the stuff done to the Sweeps aircraft.
