I've been out a few times since it thawed to get back in the swing of things, and now I'm looking for a destination. And when you live in Boston flying a mere 242 nm for some decent BBQ seems okay!

Anyone have a pirep on the grass strip and more importantly the BBQ?

I didn't know it was public use! I saw aerial applicators parked there often.

Yeah, the AFD (I mean, "chart supplement") says "Heavy AG ops". But it is public use. I think I'll phone and see if I can get anyone to report on the runway condition if no one here has landed there recently. Don't want to get stuck in the mud!

Yeah, I think they (the BBQ folks) posted that after I messaged them.
I phoned today the number posted in the AFD for the airport and talked with a nice gal who said that the runway is in really good shape right now but it gets soft when it rains. She said call anytime for an update. I was thinking of going down this Saturday, and there's rain in the forecast for Friday. I'll call before I leave. If I make it I'll definitely give a pirep. We're really starved for good BBQ up here in Boston, and even southern NJ BBQ seems like a good bet!

I've been there a few times. Nice place to have a fly-in in the summertime...
