I was a kid last time I went to the show in June 1983. It was a major Airshow held over a weekend, they had WWII aircraft, static displays, stunt shows, military jets performed. There was a U.S. Marine A4 Skyhawk that did a 500kt. flyby 20 feet off the runway past a crowd of 15,000 spectators!!

It was the first time I went up in a small airplane. Local pilots were giving 30 minute rides in their airplanes for a $5 donation to the EAA. I went up in a Piper Archer, pilot let me fly and he showed me how to turn, fly straight and level...a great experience.

These days, aside from the Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach, there aren't many airshows in the local area like this one. I believe the show ended by the mid to late 1980's.
