Looks like I picked a heck of a weekend to finally fly to KSSI.
37 page NOTAM for arrivals and departures.

I might change my xc destination and try KSSI later...

Thoughts ?

Unless you really want to be in KSSI this weekend, changing your plans may be the better part of valor.

Great airport, however going to be very busy,I would change destinations.

Nobody goes to AOPA Fly-ins anymore; they're too crowded.

What a bunch of curmudgeons! Read the NOTAM, keep your head on a swivel, fly-in and have fun!

Yep. I am changing to KVDI instead.
I need to get 10hrs of PIC xc before end of the month.
I will finally make Transport Mission Pilot with the CAP.

Anyone want to join me at KVDI for lunch Saturday morning ?

I wanted to go, but I am working this weekend instead.

Maybe next time....

Just flew in for work to pickup some people. Traffic has picked up already. Fly safe folks.

Let me come clean; in 40+ years of flying I've never completely understood how NOTAMS are organized or distributed.

So in this case there is a NOTAM for an AOPA fly-in. If I were planning to go to the fly-in, I'd have no problem finding the NOTAM using a link from the AOPA site. Just like Oshkosh. But what if I'm just flying into KSSI? My latest planning process include briefing the flight on FF and where I believe all the pertinent NOTAMs are downloaded. But this NOTAM wasn't there (yesterday).
Why can't I find them? Where should I look?
Where would I expect to find out about a flyin I'm not attending.

Bill "stumped again"

When we got our briefing this morning, no notam. It didn't pop up until after we got here

Same here.
I just did a easy search online to see what there is to do in KSSI.. and the AOPA fly-in just popped up. What are the chances of a pre-planned flight - weeks in advance would be the same weekend as a AOPA fly-in ? Kinda bummer.

But Vidalia this time of year should be nice - haha.
Last month it was Jimmy Carter Regional for peanuts
This month = Vidalia Airport.. for onions !
Maybe one day I wil make it to Florida for some oranges.

I got my 3.8 hours of flying this morning!
Cost me a whopping $108.50!

And back.
