I am taking an extended hiatus from flying, and while I love Operation Fly, and think its a lot of fun, I don't want to keep it hanging around, reminding me of aviation.

I have reached out to one person that I knew would keep it going, but have not received any responses, so I figured I'd throw the offer up to anyone else that is interested:

I don't want money. I just want someone that will ensure that the challenge remains active and alive (and free) for years to come. If you want to take it over, and are comfortable enough in PHP/CodeIgniter to be able to maintain it, its yours for the taking. Just let me know.

The costs to run it are pretty minimal - $20/mo for the Linode, plus the cost of the domain per year. I think the domain name is good through June.

Whomever takes it will get ownership of everything, I'll transfer it all to you.

You can either email me at [email protected] or hit me up with a PM here and I'll respond.

Nick, thanks for creating Operation Fly in the first place. I'm not in a position to take it over (hopefully someone is), but I've enjoyed my flights to claim some airports and if got me out of the pattern when motivation was waning.

I hope you get to return to aviation in time.

John

I wouldn't have ever landed on AstroTurf if it weren't for Operation Fly... so definitely thanks, Nick. (And whomever has the time/energy to take it over...)

I've offered to... Nick, did you get my email?

Where was that?

By the way, I'm sorry to hear you are taking a break Nick, but I had to do it too, once.

Don't stay away too long, okay?

FYI... operationfly.com is now IPv6 ready.

Had an IPv6 training class this week, and Linode is supporting IPv6 in a big way, so I took a little time and added support to all the web sites. Or at least I did as far as I can tell... my sucky ISP does not support IPv6 in any way, so I can't test it personally.
