I just stopped at the thrift store last weekend and was browsing the paperback books, and saw a book with a helocopter on the cover.
It's called "Wings of the Eagle" (360 Pages) by W.T. Grant, a helicopter Pilot in Vietnam 1968-1969. It's a fascinating read, pretty much a day by day account. I was surprised at how many hours per month these guys were flying, in excess of 200 at times, in violation of Army Regs, of course. Anyone here heard of the "Kingsmen"? Dave S.?
At the rate I'm reading, it'll only be a couple more days till I'm finished.

You mean as in the song "Louie, Louie", those Kingsmen?

Nah....
That's what these guys in the 17th ACH called themselves. Lots of LRP insertions and extractions along with resupply sorties.

If you like that one Keith, try Chickenhawk by Robert Mason. Very informative with non-stop action.
I've read that.
I thought the descriptions of how his first lesson with a civilian pilot instructor was hilarious. Also the book have a good description of how a helo flies
I think that Mason got into some legal scrape after he got out of the service.
