I'm thinking of starting another business that involves retail sales and I'm looking for some advice.

Any PoS gurus here?

Can you tell us a little bit about the type of customer, volume, etc? For example would one of those squarespace ipad terminals be appropriate, or do you need something that does more accounting than that?

I've built various ones over the years, but don't have much experience with the off the shelf stuff. With some open source software and a few crappy computers you can have a very nice setup, but there's nobody like IBM to call and yell at when something goes wrong.

Actually it's a system that's built and supported by the wholesaler. The purcchase/lease/support prices sound outrageous...but I don't know this game.

So, I thought if this was someone's specialty, then maybe I could PM the equipment list, support & pricing structure to them for an opinion of value.

As with almost all things in life...I'm confident that this arrangement is negotiable.
