My brother calls this evening and tells me his mother in law found her deceased husbands firearms from when he was in the military. She, knowing my affection of firearms, has offered me first right of refusal.

The problem is, I don't have access to a blue book and am looking for some price guidance. I don't want to rake her over the coals as this sale will be sight unseen, except for some photos, but don't want the opposite to happen either.

I did a Google search and have what I assume are fair retail values but want to verify what I saw is accurate.

So, without further ado, if you have access to the blue book and wouldn't mind checking prices it would be greatly appreciated.

Reminington U.S. 1917 Eddystone long gun (I assume 30.06), serial number 112178

S&W .38 K frame, serial number 20663

Colt DA45 U.S. Army 1917, serial number 73557 (this pistol has been bored to accept .45 Colt rounds instead of the standard issue .45 Auto)

Thanks for the input!

Perhaps you'd be better off checking on a gun forum.

Jesse's right, btw, most gun forums actually have a blue book section for these posts, I'd bet you'd get hundreds of responses from people, and a plethora of "oohs" and "ahhs" too.

???

I have no idea of the value of the Enfield. Mine is a British .303 caliber in original military configuration including bayonet, worth perhaps a few hundred dollars. The other two I have no idea.

My father-in-law (recovering gunsmith) gave me a personally refurbished .303 Brit for Christmas this past year. Isn't that a sweet shooting/looking gun!? I took it to Alabama with me right away so I could have somewhere to shoot it. Dad and I ended up blowing a whole box of cartridges seeing how far away we could hit the target. ha.

It goes nicely with the 6.5x55 Swede that he gave my wife several years ago - I dropped two deer within 5 mins of each other at 120yds with it last year.

Kevin: I'll pass the req's along to said father-in-law and see if he has any insight.

My father-in-law passed away last summer and he had a really big gun collection. We ended up hiring a auctioneer that specializes in antique guns. He was in Las Vegas if you are interested I can look up his number, but I am sure he will charge you for the research.

Chris, check your PM.
Thank you for asking your father in law. I sincerely appreciate your effort.

Scott, thanks for the heads up on the Vegas connection.
