That's what I think everytime I see that clip.

BTW: It was Johnson but yea, don't buy junk engines and expect them to save your butt without work ahead of time.

The opening scene to "Always" ...the director of which deserves naming as the patron saint of pilot's movies, in the category of 'chick flicks'. If your chick INSISTS that you pick out a movie for the two of you (her) and you know she'd better like it for both your sakes, then "Always" is the one.

Yep. I actually have a copy of it in the bottom of a box somewhere. (airplane show, $1 in the junk bin one day, close enough) The dvd/vhs/tv brainrot contraptions are really close to being put in storage soon for a few years.

Good move. What adventure is taking their place?

I saw a similiar chick flick last night....Spin.

Not too bad, cute in a way, and some cool, but short, flying scenes with a Piper Cub!

I thought so. Ever realize how much time you have and how much more relaxed you are when you don't watch tv at all? After a couple days without it, you don't miss it at all...especially the horrifically depressing evening news. Heck, considering the benefits of not having it around, I may just leave it in the back of the storage shed forever...

A real life for a change. ;)
Packing up and moving a few times, A&P school and a few real vacations for starters...

I've been feeling pretty old lately. The only TV I catch on a regular basis are the good series like Sopranos, West Wing(now gone), Deadwood (gone soon) and CBS Sunday Morning. "Huff" on Showtime was also too good to last.

We watched the spectacular open of the Emmy Awards with Conan spoofing all of the popular TV shows and only could identify 3 or 4 of them.

I've seen some "top 50 songs" lists and didn't know any of them.

I have become my parents.

HBO, knowing full well that everyone is going to the phone to cancel HBO until "The Sopranos" comes back, is starting a new season of "The Wire," which pretty much ended with its final episode last year. Clever.

They were talking about that on the news this morning. One of the shows they were spoofing was "Lost". It's a show about the survivors of an airplane crash. They ran with it even on a day when there was a real crash with only one survivor. Bad timing.

Actually I noticed that phenomenon some years ago, and when I moved, I didn't bother to put up an antenna in order to even receive tv. Haven't missed it at all. I admit to owning a vcr/dvd player--for when the valley is fogged in, the snow on the mtn is unski-able, and I have a craving for popcorn. :)

Yeah, my wife and I were watching and couldn't believe they were showing an airline disaster. It wasn't at all clear that it was a parody of "Lost" until Conan washed up on the island. We were kind of surprised that they had the balls to run that clip after the accident.

SOAPBOX ALERT -- SOAPBOX COMMENT FOLLOWS

I guess, since it happened in the middle of the country, it didn't really matter to the Hollywood types. And it was just a regional jet. Honestly, who flies commercial anymore, anyway......

How bout they spent maybe $50,000 making those scenes, and it never showed a jet crash? Somehow they were supposed to edit it 2 hours before airing?

That's unreasonable.

They didn't make this as satire an the just occurred airliner crash. It wasn't even an airliner he was on.
