I was thinking the same thing. That creek bed wouldn't have looked nearly as close if he would've landed on the threshold. Oh well, he pulled it off without putting branches in the wheel wells do he's good.

With what appeared to be such a long runway why even think of landing short on the threshhold, it seems to me just taking an unnecessary risk.

I agree. To me it looked like he had plenty of length if he would've landed past the displaced threshold.
